What a busy week we had! We spent a lot of time listening and discussing stories - like the Cat in the Hat, Chicka Chicka Boom, Owl Babies, We're Going on a Bear Hunt, and many other stories. Ms. Lauren chose a story to read to our class each day. We had a teddy bear's picnic where the children chose a book and a teddy bear to read to, and the children made great efforts to dress up in their favourite costumes.
Yesterday we took the children in KG1 to the Sharjah Aquarium. The children loved looking at all of the different types of fish, sting rays, sharks, turtles, sea horses, and so many more. They had a healthy lunch in the canteen, and then spent time playing outside in the playground.
On Thursday we had lots of very special visitors to our class - the class was full of Grandmas and Grandpas!! The children dressed up like they were 100 years old to celebrate spending 100 days in KG1B. We had a cake from Faris to celebrate, and some other children brought in treats to share with the class. We drew pictures of ourselves celebrating this special day!
We had a very busy week this week in KG1B, starting our new unit of inquiry about living things, and also celebrating Kindness Week. Grades 2 and 3 set up kindness stations in the playground, and the children loved working with the older children to explore the theme of kindness. Ms. Linda's Grade 3 class came down to read to our class, and we sang them a few songs. We had a 'crazy day' on Thursday, where some children dressed in crazy colours and had crazy hair. Finally, we welcomed our new classroom fish 'Pepsi' to the class!
Yesterday, the children in KG1B went to Kidzania on a school trip. They were dividied into groups, and spent time working as doctors, in the supermarket, driving the fire engine, modelling, dancing, in the hospital, among lots of other things. They earned money, which we saved to buy toys for our classroom. We had a lot of sleepy heads on the bus coming back!!
Today we went on a field trip to the Fire Station. We are currently learning about our community, and the people that help us in the community. The children loved seeing the fire engine and the clothes that the fire fighters wear, and hear the sirens from the fire trucks. They even got a go using the hose!
We had another very busy week here in KG1B. We began to explore our science theme 'pushing and pulling' by playing with ramps and marbles. We created our choice of buildings in our community using toys in our classroom, and by drawing these. We visited the Construction Room for free play, and visited Grade 3B's class for their bake sale.
We had another busy week this week. We went on a 'number hunt' around the school and tried to find different numbers, and then we practised writing these. We went to see 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' in the school theatre. We also explored the theme of 'people who help us' in our school, and built the school using blocks in the construction room.
We had another busy week this week. On Sunday, the children visited the clinic to get their height and weight checked, and the nurses also did an eye test with them. The children loved showing their family photos to the class, and we made a family photo album with all of their photographs in it. The children also drew lovely pictures of their family members. We visited the construction room to build houses, and went on a 'shape hunt' around the school.
