In another link to our UOI, we practiced using our faces to show different emotions. We tried to make happy, sad, angry, scared and surprised faces.

As our Unit of Inquiry this month is all about 'How We Express Ourselves', we were given different scenarios that may happen, and had to match the emotion or feeling face with this scenario. In our small group time this week we worked really hard with materials like dinosaurs, bugs and counters, and had to make sure that each dinosaur or bug had one counter. We loved using these concrete materials and making sure all of these animals got fed! In KG we have been using 'letter links' to help the children recognise their names and associate it with a picture beginning with the same sound as their own names. All of the children in KG 1 B can now recognise their names, and we will begin practising writing our names in the next week. At home, try to get your child to practise writing their name.
As part of our Unit of Enquiry 'How we express ourselves', we spent some time this week listening to music from around the world, and moving to this music. We listened to African songs, Irish music, Spanish music, and some famous songs from Ballet performances.
This week during small group time we read the story 'We're going on a Bear Hunt'. I hid some colourful teddy bears around the reception area of our school, and the children used magnifying glasses and worked in pairs to find them. They had great fun! |
