''This week we continued to spend time exploring different materials in class, and we did a really fun (but messy!!!!!) activity where we used different materials and paint to print lovely pictures. They all turned out fabulous!! We also spent some time in the KG garden planting lovely flowers to commemorate and celebrate Sheikh Zayed. These flowers were bought using money the children brought in and donated. Finally, we got a new toy for play time in KG 1B - a large sand tray I filled with rice. The children had lots of fun getting stuck in to playing with the 'messy table'. Well done to all on a great week's work! :)

This week we moved on to explore a new unit - How the World Works. We began to explore materials and their properties - using our sense of touch to explore the texture of different materials and drawing about what we felt. We pointed out various materials in our classroom e.g. the wooden desks, our wooden kitchen, the fabric dressing up clothes. We also listened to some lovely stories - Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and the story of the Three Little Sheep, and we used art materials to create our own houses for the little sheep.
Today marks KG1B's 100th day in Kg1. We have had lots of fun learning and exploring during the past 100 days, and look forward to our next 100 days in school. Some of the children dressed up as glamorous grannies and grandads to celebrate. Even the teachers dressed up for the occasion!! :)
Each morning, the children in KG1B sign in by writing their names. They have made big improvements since the beginning of the year, and should continue to practice this at home.
Yesterday, as part of our unit of inquiry about living things, we took a trip to Sharjah Aquarium. We had a great time spotting sting rays, turtles, sharks and lots of different types of fish. We drew pictures of what we had seen during our visit.
Yesterday in school we had a FANTASTIC time at the KG Sports Day. We were all dressed in green, representing Sharjah. We had fun doing relays, water races, playing with parachutes, dancing, doing tug-of-war and bouncing on hoppers. We had plenty of healthy snacks and water to cool us down. We were exhausted after a great day. Thanks to Ms Wafa, Ms Dalia and Mr Lukman for all their hard work organising the fantastic day!
We were so busy this week in KG1B! We continued to learn about living and non-living things, and went on a scavenger hunt around the school to find examples of these. We had a very special visitor - Ms. Sara's cat Orka came in to visit, and Rowdah got to feed her a treat! We also had great fun playing with KG2B in the Tumble and Construction Room. Finally, we had a break outside and played with the sand, on the bikes and scooters.
We spent a lot of time this week sorting animals, plants, objects and people into 'living' and 'non-living', and deciding why we thought this was so. The children hunted around the classroom for living and non-living objects, placing them in the correct set. We also discussed what living things need - food, water, air, and whether they move or grow. |
